NestiFoci – Developmental Football Program for Preschoolers and Early Primary School Children
NestiFoci is an experience-based football programme held twice a week, specifically designed by a qualified football coach and a special education teacher – and a clinical psychologist also validated it – for preschoolers in their final year of kindergarten and young elementary school students (6–9 year-olds). The programme helps children develop the skills and competencies they need for school through playful football activities. At the same time, they also learn the fundamentals of football.
During the sessions, children improve their attention, motor coordination, self-discipline, speech and task comprehension, cooperation skills, and emotional regulation — all essential abilities for successful school life. Before joining the program, each child takes part in an assessment, based on which we provide personalized recommendations for their development.
The professional background of NestiFoci is NestingPlay’s NestiFoci programme, whose primary aim is to strengthen executive functions in children aged 6–9 – particularly impulse control, working memory, sustained attention and cognitive flexibility – utilizing the structured game situations of football.
The age-appropriate development of the executive functions is a fundamental prerequisite for children’s adjustment to school and learning success.
However, based on our experience, many children face difficulties owing to the immature or atypical development of these functions.
Targeted physical activities – especially playful and motivating sports activities – can effectively support neurocognitive development.
Football is particularly popular among children, making it an ideal setting for the spontanious practice of skills such as following rules, dividing attention, decision-making and cooperation . In the joy of the game, children often do not even realise that they are simultaneously engaging and developing a wide range of complex skills.
The structure of the sessions is predictable and easy to follow. Recurring elements and a clear framework reduce anxiety, help maintain attention, and create a safe environment for every child.
The activities build on one another: they progress from individual and pair activities towards more complex group collaboration. This supports the development of social skills, inclusion and the ability to cope with setbacks.
The programme is based on an initial assessment, which we use to set individual development goals. We continuously adapt the activities to the children’s current needs and abilities, so that their development is not random, but rather targeted and trackable. Sessions take place in small groups twice a week, led by a qualified football coach and a professional with a special education background.

Not only do children experience the joy of movement, but their attention span, self-regulation and ability to cooperate with others also improve. They become more confident, which directly supports their academic performance and helps them navigate everyday situations.

The NestiFoci programme will start with a minimum of 6 children.
The NestiFoci method is built on three fundamental principles: observation, understanding and support. We seek to understand the reasons behind children’s behaviour and use a range of approaches to help them overcome difficulties and support their development through play, among other things. We create opportunities for children to connect with their peers, develop their skills and not feel like outsiders.
